Before I started my journey with the lunch program, I participated in a project called iCare which is part of a local foundation called the Jamie Fund. I went in and read to elementary school children about different disabilities to spread more awareness and acceptance. This is the first book I read, and it was a book about a rabbit who was in a wheelchair, his classmates learned to accept them.
Here is an e-mail I received from one of the students interested in my program. I was so excited to hear that someone wanted to participate.
This is an e-mail I received from the Class of 2018's President John. He told me that he was willing to add me to their class facebook group so I could post about my project.
Here is an e-mail I received from one of our school's Special Education teachers. She loved the idea and I know her students will too!
Here is the last book I read to a group of elementary school students. These kind of books are better for older children who can grasp the idea of learning disabilities.
Here are some example of a Google Form I sent out to general education students in our school. I was overwhelmed with the responses and very glad to see people participating.
